Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about therapy and counseling services, treatment approaches, and costs.

How do I start?

I will review the paperwork, including the intake form, my practice policies, financial form, and the HIPAA document that you will bring with you to the first session, and I will take time to answer any questions that you have regarding any of these documents.

Once all of your questions have been answered, we will then spend the session getting to know one another. These are the four simple step process before you get started.

What to expect?

Ethical behavior.  I am governed by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and Tennessee Board of Licensed Professional Counselors to follow the ethical and legal guidelines for my profession including confidentiality with the exception that I am a mandated reporter and must report acts of child abuse, elder abuse, abuse of a disabled person, threats or acts to harm self or others.

I must have a signed Release of Information (ROI) set up to speak with any family member, friend, or medical/clinical provider. Without a release, I cannot confirm or deny that you are a client.

How to schedule?

To schedule an appointment, please fill up this form and I will respond within 24 hours.

How much does it cost?

My fee is $125 per session for a 60-minute session. Reduced fee appointments are offered on a limited basis. Please inquire about reduced fees if needed.

How long are sessions?

Therapy sessions typically last 50 minutes to an hour. However, the duration may vary depending on your specific needs and the treatment plan I may develop for you.

Can I cancel my scheduled appointment?

Clients are free to cancel previously scheduled sessions provided 24 hours notice has been given. Otherwise, I charge for a missed or dropped appointment at the last minute. The charge would be waived for an emergency or special circumstance.

Empowerment

Discover a Path to Mental Wellness

Our 4-step pre-counseling process ensures that we are the right match for your needs, providing you with the support and guidance you need to rediscover joy and fulfillment in your life.

Create a safe space

The objective of this first session is to do just that. We will review the paperwork, including the intake form, my practice policies, financial form, and the HIPAA document that you will bring with you to the first session, and I will take time to answer any questions that you have regarding any of these documents.

Get to know each other

I’ll ask you about your reasons for seeking treatment, what your goals or expectations are, and what you are looking for in a counselor. I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have for me regarding my counseling style, what you can expect from me regarding your treatment, and any pertinent information that can help you make an informed decision of whether or not I am the best counselor for your needs.

Qualify if we’re the right fit

While I strive to provide the best counseling services available, I understand that sometimes I might not be the best professional fit for what someone needs, and that is completely okay. If, at the end of the session, you feel that I cannot meet your needs, please let me know and I will be happy to work with you to identify a referral that may be a better fit.
